Find and Experience More Fulfilling Relationships
Being single when you desire a relationship can be a challenge. There are even those that argue it may be more difficult now than at any point before. We’re not meeting people the same way. We’re not communicating the same way. Many of us are also struggling with unresolved trauma that is impacting our ability to create meaningful and successful connections.
My name is Kavita Hatten. I am a therapist in Phoenix that works with singles that are struggling to find a partner, those in relationships having a difficult time with commitment, individuals that are divorced that are struggling to get back into the dating field, and anyone that is looking for individual relationship help.
If this describes you, please reach out to me today. I am able to see clients anywhere in the entire state of Arizona, and am here to help you navigate the dating world and feel more confident in yourself and in relationships. What Even Is “Singles Counseling?”
Most people only hear about relationship therapy in the context of marriage counseling. Yet it can be so much more than that. Relationships are two distinct individuals that both have their own needs, traumas, desires, goals, and behaviors. These can be addressed individually, even without a relationship.
That is what a person receives when they connect with me about singles counseling and relationship support. We discuss not only relationships, but you. Therapy may entail:
- Addressing Past Traumas – Many of the hardest parts of a relationship are related to past relationships, or other traumatic events in a person’s life. Addressing those can make it easier to identify roadblocks.
- Self-Love – Loving yourself is important for developing *any* relationship, as well as embracing single life. We work on self-esteem, self-confidence, and the ability to have a relationship with yourself.
- Finding Your Match – We try to determine what you’re really looking for, and see if your preferences may be due to past relationship patterns or a genuine attraction to a specific type of individual.
- Moving On – For those that are struggling to move on from a past dating experience, we can address those challenges and work on the emotional healing necessary to be ready for the next one.
- Treating Anxiety, Depression, and More – Your mental health affects both your ability to manage a relationship and your happiness when you find it. We can work on your mental health more generally so that your single and dating life is more enjoyable.
Therapy is capable of helping you learn to live with yourself and others. It makes it easier to navigate challenging emotions. It can be aimed at helping you find relationships, but also designed to make it possible for you to live single and still enjoy an emotionally healthy life.
Therapy Approaches for Addressing Relationship Challenges
Singles counseling is a mix of evidence based psychotherapy and relationship support, depending on the person’s individual needs. That is a big part of what I do as a therapist in Phoenix – I work with you as an individual, which means that we address and adapt based on what will support you the best. Some of the techniques that we may integrate together include:
- Strength Based Therapy – Here we work on your own natural strengths to inspire confidence and make sure that you’re feeling your best about yourself.
- Inner Child Therapy – Many people have ways their childhood affects their relationships, and we work on those together to help with future mental health.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Perhaps the most extensively researched therapy approach available, CBT help us examine and address thoughts/behaviors.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – A popular and effective approach that is designed to help you live your life according to your own values.
- Mindfulness – Especially useful in the context of individual dating counseling, mindfulness helps you identify emotions and respond constructively.
Everyone is unique. We’ll start a conversation, see what you need most, and create an action plan that makes the most sense for you and your needs.
